Bytes challenges on-the-go consumer behavior patterns while pushing material innovation to stimulate the conversation surrounding cabin waste in the air transport industry. Focusing on airline-food waste in particular, the proposed solutions in structural packaging and experience design provide insightful steps for future designers and innovators as well as aviation policymakers and executives to move towards a more conscious way to travel and a more sustainable industry.

Bytes adapts a systemic approach to a systemic problem. It is a 3d-printed hyper-personalised airline meal system in which both the food itself and the catering system is completely redesigned to minimise waste, solving many of the problems that come with traditional airplane food and the complex web of logistics surrounding it.
