The theme of my project is kitchen knife design. My design focus is exploring the visual aesthetics of the kitchen knife whilst retaining its fundamental function. I abstract the scenery of Iceland and re-imagine these scenery abstractions as inspiration for the knife design so that they reflect a form of memory recollection of the landscape. The natural scenery of Iceland is dying out due to global warming, which means the scenery may not be seen for the second time. Is this good or bad? Should we lament this ever-changing world? Maybe I am finding my way to help me remember the good memory of immersing in Iceland? Maybe human beings and knives are both cutting out the pure lands of and in nature?
