My name is Alice and I am a potter whose practice is focused on locality and material exploration. Being based in North London, I forage and process local clays and glaze ingredients for the making of tableware and plant pots. By exploring the design opportunities of local ceramic materials, I find that the environmental consequences of producing ceramics become more personal. We can no longer work as if we have unlimited access to all the world's resources and I want to encourage fellow makers and designers to refocus their creative lenses; venture in to and expand on the design opportunities that lie close to home. My work celebrates the use of local materials and it strives to create a potential pathway towards a more sustainable ceramic practice.
